Star Quilt

Hello friends! I started this quilt in 2004,
the top was made. I added the borders many years
later and still hadn't quilted it. I knew it would be
difficult after having been through cancer and
radiation, which kind of messed up my arm for
awhile...I lost a lot of strength and range of
motion in my right arm. It's slowly getting better after
10 years...still not at 100% however. But I
wanted to get this quilt done for so many years and
finally decided to finish it before my birthday tomorrow!
I absolutely love it and am so pleased to finally
have it on my white iron bed! I think it goes great in
my room and I can't wait to start on my next quilt!
I hope this inspires you to make a quilt
someday to be treasured from generation
to generation!
Have a wonderful week and stay cool in
this hot weather!
Blessings!

Ocean Wall Quilt

Happy Sunday friends! I hope your weekend has
been beautiful, fun and creative! I finished the
ocean wall quilt... I did a lot of beading on it!
I had a great time making this and I think I will
do another, in a different way... but hope it
will turn out even better.

I have been working on some other projects lately,
always keeping myself busy, that's for sure! :) Have
a great and safe week ahead!
 Thank you for stopping by!

Still in progress... Bead work!

Hello again! I've been working very hard on
the ocean quilt, determined to get it done by
month's end... I've done a lot of bead work
in the past 3 days. I still have much more to do,
then I will add a few other embellishments,
before I finish it off with binding and loops
for hanging it up! I'm excited to see the finished
project. I have many ideas floating around in
my brain! lol And now, I don't think I want
to hang this piece in the main bathroom, as
I was originally planning to do when I started
this project! It's going to be too pretty to do
THAT to it!! lol  Anyway, I'm having
fun with this piece and look forward to making
some more art quilts... it let's my imagination
run wild...

Have a lovely day, dear friends! Much love
and many blessings wished for you all!

Thanks for stopping by!

Ocean Art Quilt - A Work in Progress

Hello, happy weekend!
There's been a bit of rainy/windy
weather here, not so great to be outside yet.
I hope you're having some great weather wherever
you may be in this world!

I've been doing some sewing on an art quilt that
I began making years ago... I'm bad for starting projects
and losing interest in them, but I'm determined
to get this done so I can start on yet another
unfinished project!  lol

This is an ocean themed wall hanging. I'm doing some
hand beading on it now and it's coming along...
slowly, but surely!  I like the metallic thread I used
for quilting the sea area.

I have much more planned for embellishing it,
which will be mainly hand beaded work, then I
will bind it all and hopefully be finished by
month's end!

Have a fantastic and inspirational weekend!
Enjoy!

Christmas Quilts

Happy Sunday everyone!!
Yesterday I decided it was about time to set up the Christmas
tree before it arrives!! Time sure does fly and before you know
it another year has passed us by. I can't believe how quick they
come and go. Anyway... I have the tree up, no top yet, but I
haven't found the usual ornaments I use on the tree... so it's a
bit different this year, to say the least. I found some quilted wall
hangings I have made in the past and decided to share them
with you here.

The snowman below is a small piece in which
I appliqued and machine sewed together.

The snowmen quilt below is one in which I pieced
together the quilt blocks, so it contains
many small pieces of fabric stitched together
and machine quilted in a snowflake pattern.

The advent calendar below is one I made a few
years ago by cutting out some prints from
fabric and appliqueing these on the upper
part. Then cutting out the letters, numbers
and stockings. The stockings are actually
little stockings that I usually put mini
candy canes in each and for my son to
count down the days till Christmas...
I am behind this year...lol I don't have
any mini canes to put in them!!! I
finished this off with some Stipple Quilting
on the white background.

Below is another applique style quilt in
which I used a nice print and did some stipple
quilting as well.

I love to make something new each year to
add to the Christmas box of decorations...

I hope you enjoy these and maybe it will
get your creative juices flowing for this
holiday season. May it be merry and
bright...full of good cheer and wonderful
memories in the making.

Have a wonderful new week!!!
Blessings!

Christmas Wall Quilt

Happy December!!

I like to make or buy a new ornament or something each
year to add to the Christmas decorations. I have made many
wall quilts and love making these and many other things, as you
know. So last week I decided to go through my stash of
Christmas fabrics to use up. I had bought these Debbie
Mumm Santa panels many years ago. So, I thought I
would finally use them. I cut out the panels and sewed them
to strips from a Christmas Holly print that I received
from my late sister, Cheryl. I wanted this quilt to be
very special and made with love.

Now that the top was done,
time to pin it to the backing and batting.

 Time to begin machine quilting...
in the ditch around the panels and
the sashing...
and free motion quilting around the
Santa and designs...

After 2 days of quilting, I was ready to
hand sew the border, which was taken
from the backing fabric...

All finished! I will be adding some other
type of way to hang it...the metal clips
look kinda tacky!!! LOL

Happy first day of December!!! What are
you making this month??

Tunisian Crochet Afghan

Hello friends!
I can't believe Autumn will be here so soon... it's already
starting to get rainy again. Soon the leaves will change their colors
and fall to the ground... such a lovely sight... and a good time to
start working on a new afghan! I started this rather sturdy and
dense crochet work to use up some bits and pieces of left over
yarn from previous projects. As I was happily crocheting, I noticed
that the blues didn't match! Oh well, I just figured this out after
many rows of crocheting and didn't want to unwind it all...so I
am just continuing on with the project, I'm not too sure how it
will turn out, but it will be warm and heavy! Next time I will definitely
use a softer yarn when I use this stitch. Hopefully it will soften up
once I wash it! It's not too terribly bad, I suppose... lol.

Have a wonderful Saturday!!

Crochet Frenzy

I've been on a "crochet frenzy" for the past 2 weeks.
I made a few bags (shopping and /or small handbags)
and cotton dish rags, as you can see here. I will have to
get my Etsy Shop up again sometime after I make some
more new items to list. I think some sewing projects
are in order soon... :) Any ideas?

A Day of Reflection

This morning I woke up and lay here looking out
my bedroom window. The sunshine was
filling the room with a softness that I found was very
warm and comforting to me on this sad day.
It cheered me up a little just seeing this glow. The trees
were looking nice through the sheer curtains... so I took a
photo to remember the moment! :)

Today was a tough day to get through, as it is every year
on this day, for the past 6 years. I relive each moment in
my mind and the memories are so very sad and many
tears are shed. My dear sister, Cheryl, passed away at
the age of 51 to lung cancer. She was such a beautiful
woman, so smart and always lit up a room with her smile
and precious laughter. I sure do miss talking to her on the
phone and her silly way she greeted me each time. Oh, how
I miss being able to hear her voice, see that smile and her
glimmer of golden hair, she is among the angels now and I
am so happy to have had the time with her throughout my
life. She was my big sister, my "2nd Mommy" as
our mom called her because she would help take care
of me when I was a baby and through my younger years.
I was blessed to have her in my life and blessed to be her
little sister. I am the youngest. Cheryl and I were 4 years
apart and our sister, Corinne  is a year younger than
Cheryl. Three sisters, many fights, but many happy times
that I will forever treasure and hold close to my heart.
I spoke to my mom on the phone earlier and she said she
released 2 balloons for our dear angel. Mom was very
upset and like every year, I try to cheer her up by remembering
the good and happy times we had with Cheryl. She was so
very loved and cherished by her family and friends.

Today, to take my mind off the sadness I've been feeling
for quite a long time, I did some knitting. I have finally finished
one leg warmer for my daughter and have begun to
knit the second piece. Knitting with 4 needles is quite the
poky experience!! You would laugh at the way I knit...I
usually use 2 needles and stick the one with the stitches
between my knees or legs to hold tight while I knit away
with the yarn threaded through my fingers...it just goes
quicker and I like to see progress coming along fast!!!
I guess I am impatient when it comes to doing projects...
when I sew, I like to get it done and I don't care how many
hours it takes, I don't quit... well, unless it's a quilt,
then I have to take days and weeks to finish that.
As a matter of fact...I made a quilt top and still haven't
finished it and that was done about 7 years ago! Oh
my goodness... I have so many projects that aren't finished,
I guess the results weren't quick enough for me!! Oh well,
back to the four needles... so, here I was knitting
"in the round" and poking my fingers like crazy with the
needle tips... I couldn't grab those darn needles with
my knees, too short, or I would have!!! lol
I'm doing a K2 P2 rib so it will hug my daughters legs when
she dances! She does ballet and all sorts of dance.
And she has a sock addiction... she loves them! These leg
warmers are just a quickie project to mail off to her soon.
I will be making some more fashionable lacy and other
styles of leg warmers for her too... :) Maybe some
on the knitting machine... quicker results! HA! ;)

Now I just see the time!! 12:47 AM...I guess time flew by
and it's now the 31st... last day of the year... what a year
it's been. One of the hardest years in my life. I hope that
the New Year will be much better for everyone,  more loving,
kind, and peaceful, now that would be nice! I have
a lot to work on with myself and one day at a time will be
good for now. I can't expect quickie results on healing
my heart or changing some of my ways for the better.
That takes time...

So, now that it's New Year's Eve, I thought I would start on
my 2013 greeting, so this is what I came up with. It started
out as 3D text and fireworks and then I got all artsy fartsy on it,
adding snowflakes and some special effects to the fireworks.

Now for some snowflakes, since Alberta always
seems to have snow, even during the fireworks at
the lake. I'm sure they will have some tonight!!
Fireworks for sure, maybe snowflakes too... ;)

I'm having a great time with the new software, last night I was
trying a little animation!! Not ready for that yet!!! lol

Have a wonderful last day of 2012!!!
Stay safe and don't drink and drive!
Love & Peace to ALL!!
