Ocean Art Quilt - A Work in Progress

Hello, happy weekend!
There's been a bit of rainy/windy
weather here, not so great to be outside yet.
I hope you're having some great weather wherever
you may be in this world!

I've been doing some sewing on an art quilt that
I began making years ago... I'm bad for starting projects
and losing interest in them, but I'm determined
to get this done so I can start on yet another
unfinished project!  lol

This is an ocean themed wall hanging. I'm doing some
hand beading on it now and it's coming along...
slowly, but surely!  I like the metallic thread I used
for quilting the sea area.

I have much more planned for embellishing it,
which will be mainly hand beaded work, then I
will bind it all and hopefully be finished by
month's end!

Have a fantastic and inspirational weekend!
Enjoy!

This week's projects

I took a little break from sewing today and made a photo
collage. Something different for Friday the 13th...

A set of coasters made from felt and fabric,
double thick with the felt... to match the place
mats I made last week!

Working with the felt scraps, I thought I would
try my hand at making some little flowers!!

So, now to think what will be next... hmmm....
:)
Enjoy your weekend, everyone!!

Peace & Love

Christmas Quilts

Happy Sunday everyone!!
Yesterday I decided it was about time to set up the Christmas
tree before it arrives!! Time sure does fly and before you know
it another year has passed us by. I can't believe how quick they
come and go. Anyway... I have the tree up, no top yet, but I
haven't found the usual ornaments I use on the tree... so it's a
bit different this year, to say the least. I found some quilted wall
hangings I have made in the past and decided to share them
with you here.

The snowman below is a small piece in which
I appliqued and machine sewed together.

The snowmen quilt below is one in which I pieced
together the quilt blocks, so it contains
many small pieces of fabric stitched together
and machine quilted in a snowflake pattern.

The advent calendar below is one I made a few
years ago by cutting out some prints from
fabric and appliqueing these on the upper
part. Then cutting out the letters, numbers
and stockings. The stockings are actually
little stockings that I usually put mini
candy canes in each and for my son to
count down the days till Christmas...
I am behind this year...lol I don't have
any mini canes to put in them!!! I
finished this off with some Stipple Quilting
on the white background.

Below is another applique style quilt in
which I used a nice print and did some stipple
quilting as well.

I love to make something new each year to
add to the Christmas box of decorations...

I hope you enjoy these and maybe it will
get your creative juices flowing for this
holiday season. May it be merry and
bright...full of good cheer and wonderful
memories in the making.

Have a wonderful new week!!!
Blessings!

Christmas Wall Quilt

Happy December!!

I like to make or buy a new ornament or something each
year to add to the Christmas decorations. I have made many
wall quilts and love making these and many other things, as you
know. So last week I decided to go through my stash of
Christmas fabrics to use up. I had bought these Debbie
Mumm Santa panels many years ago. So, I thought I
would finally use them. I cut out the panels and sewed them
to strips from a Christmas Holly print that I received
from my late sister, Cheryl. I wanted this quilt to be
very special and made with love.

Now that the top was done,
time to pin it to the backing and batting.

 Time to begin machine quilting...
in the ditch around the panels and
the sashing...
and free motion quilting around the
Santa and designs...

After 2 days of quilting, I was ready to
hand sew the border, which was taken
from the backing fabric...

All finished! I will be adding some other
type of way to hang it...the metal clips
look kinda tacky!!! LOL

Happy first day of December!!! What are
you making this month??

Hair Bows

November's arrival started with a light snow, followed yesterday
by a huge DUMP!!  There is so much snow on the ground and
it's cold in my sewing room... Nevertheless, I have been keeping
quite busy with my latest projects. I decided to make my daughter
some hair bows, since she likes wearing them to tame her
beautiful , thick and curly brunette hair. She likes the Sweet
Lolita style and I had made her a couple skirts in this style.
She has been liking a few bows on Etsy, so I thought I would
make her some. I don't know if she still wears her pink skirt
or the black and white musical note one, but I thought I could
use up the scraps left from these past projects. I have so many
embellishments and fabrics that I have decided to make some
to sell in my Etsy shop as well. I hope you like them!

Have a beautiful new week ahead... and be careful
and stay warm in this cold weather if that is the case
where you live! Last photo is my yard...with the DUMP!
LOL!!

Wednesday greetings!

Hello friends!! Happy Wednesday... these days seem
to be flying by so quickly! We had a little snowfall last
night, here in Alberta, but the sunshine today is melting
all that fell in the evening. It looks so pretty, like
diamonds, brilliant and sparkly! :)

Below are links to my books and crafts... you're welcome to
share these links with your friends and family. I appreciate
all of you for your support in my arts.

Have a beautiful Wednesday with much love, Debra

All set up

I've been very busy this past year...below is just a small portion
of the items I have made. Some I haven't listed on my Etsy shop
yet and others I haven't finished...

I have a home showing tonight... I hope to sell something!

Above are some unfinished things..dish cloths,
scarves and more... I love the dish cloths,
they are the green and the blue on the right of
the green...I crocheted these Tunisian style.
Actually the 2 scarves on each other side of
them is also Tunisian crochet! I am addicted!

Update & Pics

Hello friends! I'm sorry I've been a bit
quiet lately, many things on my mind.
Sending out love, prayers and deepest
sympathy to Connecticut families and their
loved ones. I've been missing my family,
my ex boyfriend and I've just been very sad and
depressed, trying to get the spirit of Christmas
going around here. So today, I put some
more ornaments on the tree, I'm playing Christmas music
and making some home made pizza for dinner.
I may just make some cookie dough today as well!
I was glued to the tv the past 3 days and just
crying my heart out, so today the tv is off, unless
 it's a Christmas show! :)

Below are some things I've been working on...
I've been learning some Tunisian Crochet and
having a bit of fun with that...

Sending love to all... have a wonderful new
week ahead. Blessings

Above is a Tunisian Crochet stitch something
or other... perhaps a table runner? The yarn isn't
too soft, but I like the way the variegated yarn
looks in this...I'll have to go through my yarn stash
and find some softer variegated yarn... maybe a baby
sweater would be nice with this stitch!

Above is a hand knit chunky scarf
I have started using stockinette stitch
and bulky brushed acrylic yarn.

Above right and below right
is another Tunisian Crochet stitch,
this one is made with a very soft
teal colored mohair and acrylic blend
yarn...so snuggly! I love it!
I'm not finished with any of these
projects yet... just working on them
all a little at a time.

Below is the poor Christmas tree,
barren with no gifts... I put more
decorations on it today to liven it
up... I tried to get my son enthused
about decorating but he's put it
off for a week... so it's up to Mom.

Below is a stocking I made many years ago
in California... I have a few with different fabrics.
These are all lined so they are nice inside and out!

Especially when filled with Chocolate!! lol

I had to put some of my polar bears under
the tree in a wagon... they look cozy!
Frosty has to stay out, he may melt!

Fibre optic trees are really pretty... I like
the fact that I don't have to mess with those
little strings of lights and the tree
looks pretty with or without ornaments!

I have so much more Christmas stuff downstairs,
but I think the tree looks festive enough...

Below are a nice snowman and tree made
out of wood from my youngest son when he was in
pre-school...he's a crafty guy too!

That's all folks! Enjoy the new week ahead...
Love and blessings to all.
