Like a Tree
Like a tree
We are planted
We establish our roots
Emerging into the world
As we grow
We branch out
Unfold and blossom
Exposing our souls
Baring our hearts
Reaching out for warmth
Bracing against the cold
Taking abuse from the elements
Losing ourselves
Until we heal
And come back
To grow some more
Reach for the stars
Make life new again
Always hopeful
Getting stronger
To face tomorrow
We are strong
Like a tree.
