Spirit

I think I've lost my spirit lately. I am in a depressive slump and all the
work I've been doing in the past 3 years is not going anywhere,
which has me exhausted, drained and very disheartened. It's a terrible
state this world's economy is in and everyone is feeling it. I'm
afraid of losing everything... how can I keep it when I can't even
earn a dime? It seems that the past 3 years are all just a waste
of time... I am really down and when I get depressed I turn inward
and just don't want to talk, which is why I haven't been online much,
in case you were wondering. I've just been in a slump, trying to
think of new directions to go, I start new projects and lose
interest in it very quickly.  It just seems very bleak to me. I
need a new life... this one is not so great. I can't find joy in
anything any more... I'm just lost.

I'll post when I am out of this mood... hopefully soon.

Hope you're all doing great and had a great Thanksgiving!

I took this photo in Half Moon Bay, California back in
2005... wish I was there now...
sigh.

Oh well, I can dream about it.... :)

Glow

The Road to Nowhere

The Road To Nowhere

I'm having one of those weeks where my mind
is on so many different things. I have some good ideas
floating around in my head about different designs and
projects... but also I've been experiencing a lot
of dark despair. I feel as though I am at a crossroads in
life and I don't know which way to go.
I've started on so many different things and I
quickly lose interest or think of something else to
try... it never ends! Maybe I am trying to do too
much, just trying to keep my mind busy and not
dwelling on all the problems in my life.
I purchased some new software and have been
working with that today... but having a hard
time staying focused on learning it. My mind
starts wandering... somewhere down some lonely
road... and so far, I am getting nowhere!
Tomorrow is a new day... a fresh start to a
new week... I hope yours is inspiring and
creative... enjoy life.

Promises - A Poem

Just a short little poem...

Promises

In the distance
I see your silhouette
Walking away
Further and further
Until you disappear
Out of my sight
Into another lonely night
Promises broken
You are not here
Nowhere near
Like you said you would be
Always here for me
But you are gone
And now
I can't depend on anyone

Black Crochet Cowl

This black cowl or neck warmer is crocheted
in a soft acrylic sportweight yarn. The rose
brooch is crocheted in an acrylic worsted weight
yarn, which can be worn separately with other
items in your wardrobe. I have just finished and
listed this in my Etsy shop. Link is below.

On Sale Now - Halter

I have just listed a halter top on Etsy that I finished yesterday.
The body and cording are knit and edges are crocheted with
a coordinating color. Done in earthy tones with acrylic and an
acrylic/wool blend yarn. It can be adjusted to fit body with the
cording, or tied behind for a different look. Very versatile in \
style. Can be worn year round. I have put this on sale for
weekend... it is now $5 off the original list price.
Have a great weekend!

Hand Knit Mohair Blend Cowl

I have just finished and listed this pretty
hand knit cowl on my Etsy shop site.
This is a beautiful blue
acrylic/wool/mohair blend yarn and
super soft and lightweight. I love how it
drapes and just love this yarn.
I designed the flower as I crocheted... this is truly
a unique, one of a kind item.

Crochet Hat with Rose & Beads

Here's a cute little crochet hat I designed
and made last night. The blue yarn is
a soft chunky boucle. The rose is an
acrylic/wool blend. There are 5 glass
champagne pearl beads inside the rose's
center. I'll be making more of these
in different yarns and colors.

Have a happy and creative
Monday!

Update

Hello and happy Sunday, Veterans Day and
Remembrance Day! I hope your weekend is
going fantastic!

Today I thought I would do some updating on
my sites... I still have much work to do and
more designing for my sites. I will be doing a
logo of some sort & hope to get that done this week
I added a little bio on my Etsy shop site... but
still more to do yet. I am lost at the moment...
trying to do too many things at once! (as usual) ;)

I finished a twisty cowl that I have been hand
knitting on some circular needles...it's a very
nice variegated yarn..reminds me of my favorite
artist, Monet, with the pretty colors.  I will be posting
it after I get the ends finished off and such.
I don't particularly like knitting with circular needles
because I am not your average knitter, I am a
strange knitter, I like speed!  So what I usually
do is put the straight needle between my legs and hold
it there while knitting with the other needle.
When I do this, I can knit very fast...it looks funny,
I can imagine and I can't be wearing a dress... lol!!

I wonder what all those people at the cancer clinic
thought of me in the waiting room, The cancer
center in Edmonton has balls of yarn
and needles there, so anyone can knit for
charity while waiting for your treatments.
They must have thought I was nuts...especially
when I came out in my hospital gown and
said to everyone...I think I'm overdressed!!
It's a very solemn and sad place, and usually
no one speaks,  but at least we had a little chuckle
since we were ALL in hospital gowns!! lol

Well, at least I can get a nice tension with
the yarn and with the needle upright... it has
better leverage for speed!! I can't do this on
circular needles...so there I am..slow as a snail... lol.
That circular needle I was using today actually
came apart on me! They are interchangable
so the tips screw on and off and you can change
your needle sizes in this way... well, there I was half
way around and all of a sudden..slip... there went
about 15 stitches dropped off... so I managed
to manuever them back together going backwards
with the tip... screwed it back together and thankfully
I saved all those hours of work from potential rip out mode... :)
Actually I do a lot of that... I have sooooo many
unfinished projects that I got bored with, I must
have about 8 going at the moment in the past few
weeks, waiting there to be finished or ripped out.

Enough rambling...time to cook! :)
Enjoy your Monday!! :)

New Knit Scarf with Crochet Rose

I've been doing quite a bit of hand knitting
lately. Working on some cowls for my Etsy
shop. This black scarf can be worn like a
cowl with the detachable crocheted red rose.
It can be pinned in front, at the shoulder... or
worn without, whatever suits your mood.
This particular scarf I knit on my bulky machine
in a tuck stitch, so it's reversible (opposite side
is stockinette stitch). I'll be working on more
of these with a variety of flowers, colors,
styles, lengths and stitches... you can also
add your own brooches for a completely
different look...I'll be making those too...lol

Have a happy weekend!! :)

New Knit Hats for Winter

Today I knit 2 different toques to choose
from. The top brown hat is a bit lighter
weight than the bottom gold hat... gold is
much heavier and thicker in bulk. Both
styles can be worn slouchy or hem up
for extra warmth. Great for winter.
Choice of color available by request
on my Etsy site.

www.etsy.com/shop/CaligrrlArts

These were manually knit on my Elna 2300 bulky
knitting machine and finished off by hand. I
think I will do some different patterns and stripes
for more variety! Hope your week is going great!
We are having a snowy day today... at least 3 inches
already!! BRRRRRRRRRRR... I better knit myself an
extra thick hat to keep my head and ears warm!  lol
Enjoy the rest of the week..weekend is almost here!!

Hand Knit Fashion Scarf

This is a scarf I knit for my daughter.
I took HD photos and then again with
a flash... it's color is gold.. and shimmery.
Beautiful yarn and I only had a limited amount.
I sure hope she likes it! :)

Mulberry Hand Knit Scarf

Here is a link to my latest addition on Etsy. It's hand knit in a soft chunky brushed acrylic yarn. Mulberry color (or fuschia) scarf is great for winter wear.

My Designer Dress... ;)

I've been hand knitting lately, for the past 3 days,
and I decided to design a little dress or top for a
girl. This is almost finished. I still have to block
it and go over it to check for loose ends. This
yarn is so scrumptious...love the feel of the blue
boucle yarn... it's so soft and squishy like Charmin!
:) The fuschia is a soft brushed acrylic... real pretty
colors together, I think. Somewhere, some little girl
will be happy wearing this... my little girl is 21 now!
I used to love making her dresses to wear. :) I have
plans on some things for her as well... ;)

Above shows the detachable flower
in different positions. The last photo is
what it looked like earlier today! :)

Happy New Week

Dropping by to say hello and wish you all
a beautiful new week ahead. It's hard to
believe that November is already here! It's
been more like winter time here in Alberta
with the snow covered ground. Today the
sun is shining and the snow is melting. More
snow is forecast for later this week, so today
I am enjoying the warmth of the sun through
my window, basking in it!! lol  ;)

I hope the new week brings many blessings
with love, laughter and happiness to all.
Now, back to knitting!! ;)

Projects update.

Hello friends,
I'm lagging on my posts here, due to working on several
things for the Etsy shop. I have some things knit up
and one little girls knit dress I am hand knitting and
designing as I go along. I hope it turns out nice!
I started it yesterday as well as knit a couple neck
warmers for men or women... I still have to finish them
off and once I do that, I will be posting the pics and
putting them on Etsy.
I hope you're enjoying November so far!
It's been more like winter here, we still have a
snow covered ground and it's been cold. Not much of
a chance to enjoy the Autumn leaves and their
pretty colors. I wish you all a beautiful weekend!
