Glow - Poetry Video

Here is a brand new video poem.
I collected the photos and started making
this video, deciding later to write a poem
that would go along with the pictures and
fractal art. Photos are public domain
and the song is one from YouTube's
Audio Swap. Thank you for watching.

Knit Baby Sweater

Still working on getting this sweater finished. I need to
sew the side and arm seams as well as finish off the
yarn ends, block and press. :) I like the variegated
yarn in this slip stitch pattern!

Knit Scarves

The past few days I've been working on
some more scarves for winter. These are
done in Fair Isle stitch on my bulky knitter.
I've added a crochet edge to each. The top
photo shows one blocked and finished.
I still have the other 3 to block and finish
off the ends! Have a great Friday!

Blissful - A new poem

Blissful

We are all searching for something
The bliss that true love can bring
A soft touch that only lovers share
Opening your heart and soul to bare
With one soul, one who understands
Someone to walk with you hand in hand
Sharing your secrets, hopes and dreams
Cuddling under the moon beams.
Sharing memories, hugs and kisses
Growing old together, dancing in the rain
Waking up in each other's arms to do it all again.
Love... blissful love.

Yellow Baby Afghan

Here is another baby blanket just
finished. It's a soft yarn, very light
weight and knit in a finer gauge. It
came out a bit smaller than I imagined,I
finished the edge with some crochet.
Below are photos of each side. It's
a slip stitch pattern, again, so it looks nice
on either side. :) It will make a nice
 lap or newborn blanket.

Today, I will makesome more knits.
Have a happy Sunday!

A Peach of a Blanket

Lastnight I knit this little baby afghan on the
punch card machine and today I finished off
the edge with some crochet. This little "peach"
of a blanket will keep a baby nice and snuggly
warm! :) I love making baby items.

Have a terrific weekend!
You know what I'll be doing... ;)

Happy weekend!

A quick post to wish you all a very nice weekend!
I've been busy with the knitting and crochet work.
I'm working on some baby afghans and sweaters.

I will post something later today or this evening!
Share a smile!!

Sunset in Alberta

The sunset was so pretty tonight, I had to take a few pics
of the sky. We have a lot of pink clouds here... lol.
Reminds me of babies or cotton candy! :)

Update

Hello friends. I've been going through some rough times;
many emotions and personal family issues lately and I apologize
for not posting. I did a bit of machine knitting today
I planned on making some more scarves but I haven't
decided if this is what I want to do yet. I may end up making some
bright and cheerful baby sweaters. Or, they may get
unraveled and made into something else. I've been looking through
my books and online for some inspiration and ideas.

I hope your weekend was relaxing and inspiring.
Off to busy my mind again... have a good new week!

Almost Finished - Girl's Knit Sweater

I'm still working on the sweater tonight! It's almost finished. See the
green yarn... well, that won't be there...lol. It's called waste yarn.
It gets unraveled off to finish the edges. Now, I have to decide what
kind of hem I want on the sleeves and the bodice. I hand knit the
ribbing for the neckline. I decided to go with the bubbly side of the
knit fabric. I thought it looked nicer. I have made this a cut and sew
project. Meaning, first I knit the fabric, next I sew or serge it on
my sewing machine and/or serger. In this case, I used both!! :)

I might do a crochet hem... that may add something fancy... who
knows? Maybe some other surprises, lol. I did this without a pattern,
I think it's coming along okay, so far. I will post the finished piece
when it's finished... ;) I was thinking that I might just sew up some
girls and boys clothing, since I have all kinds of patterns and all my
kids are grown up and out of them! I have a lot of fabric to use up,
not to mention yarn!! I'm having fun being creative... so I'm happy. :)

Have a great weekend!

Knits

Hello and a happy Friday to all! I've been in a knitting mood lately,
as you most likely know already. I like being productive and I'm
always working on projects... life is too short to not be!

Yesterday I knit one of the above tuck stitch samples. This morning
I have decided to make this into a little girls sweater, so I needed
another front/back piece as well as two sleeves. It will be a drop
shoulder sweater eventually! I may do some crochet for the edging.
I'm just designing it as I go...

Above are the 2 tuck stitch swatches. Shown from each side.
I like them both!

Above left is one sleeve which is in stockinette stitch.
I thought it made a nice contrast to the body of the sweater.
Now to sew it all together and finish it!

Lastnight I was in a hand knitting mood, so I pulled out a
few skeins and my huge needles since this is a very chunky
yarn and it looks great knit up with a big stitch. I'm doing
a garter stitch on this one. It's soft and airy...light weight
textured yarn. I love it!  I watched a movie while knitting,
a love story, it made me cry... I must stop watching those!

These scarves I made a couple days ago. They have been
steamed and blocked... and folded!!! :) Oh, I see my son
peeking around there... he was a baby back then...now he's
12 years going on 28... he wishes... lol.

Enjoy your day and weekend!! :)

Unconditional Love

Unconditional Love

Can you love me for me ~
Seeing past all the scars
that I have come to be ~
Looking beyond all the mistakes
I have made in the past ~
Loving me for who I am ~
Not for what you want me to be?

Unconditional love

To be free
Of all expectancy
To be yourself
How you are meant to be.

Monday Mania - Colorful Knit Scarves

Happy Monday! Well, it looks and feels like Autumn is in the air.
A bit chilly today in Alberta. The heater came on as I was downstairs
knitting these scarves today! I made some real colorful ones as you
can see. This brightens up a bleak Monday!  lol  :) These were both
manually machine knit on a bulky knitter. Since it already has a pattern
to the yarn, I decided to knit in a stockinette stitch to keep it simple.

Sunday Scapes - Photo Art

Happy Sunday!
Today I spent most of the day cleaning around
the house. So I thought I would do some photo art.

I combined 2 photos and different effects for 3 different looks.
Have a great evening... off to create something else, after I
create dinner of course... ;)  Enjoy the new week! Be inspired!
Blessings and love... Debra

Someone - A Poetry Video

Someone

I did this video several months ago. In case you missed it,
here it is again. I hope you enjoy!

Sick Saturday

Hello everyone!
I hope you are having a great Saturday. :)
I haven't done much as I'm feeling very ill today.
I'll post when I feel better. Have a good weekend, dear friends.

Freshly Picked!

I just noticed a bunch of apples laying on the lawn in the backyard,
so... I grabbed a big bowl and went picking some from the tree!
They look great this year. First year of a decent size and crop. I
guess all that rain paid off! :)

Apples from our tree... yippee!!

Hand Knit Scarf

This is a hand knit scarf I made for myself with some lovely
novelty yarn. A lot of texture in this soft and warm mohair blend yarn.
I love the colors and feel of it, very nice for the Canadian winters!!! LOL  :)

What do you think?

I have finished the bears and scarves... what is your opinion?
To add the earmuffs, or leave some without? Maybe some
other idea? Let me know by leaving a comment, if you like.

Thank you!! Happy Friday to everyone!

  All together ;)

Half Time

Finally, I have more bears finished!! :) Hooray!
I knit some more scarves this morning, finished
sewing them up, dressed them, and put their rosy
cheeks and black ears on... scarves, earmuffs...
and finished.... with half of them.I think the next
batch I'll do some different yarns and I have
some other ideas for them too... :)
These bears may even get some other
things added to them... :)

Have a great Thursday night.and a happy FRIDAY! :)

and for the final touch, the inner ear, earmuffs and blush... long
process but I am making progress as you can see! :) Yay!!
Have a great Wednesday...what's left of it! You know
what I will be doing the rest of the day... ;)

Update

Today is a bit gloomy and chilly in Alberta. The heater was
even on when I woke up! Where did the summer go? I
don't think we had much of one here, it rained
nearly every day. Nice for the grass but so many
bugs outside. Good for breeding with all the moisture. Yikes!

I've been in a blah mood lately, missing family and friends. I tend to
withdraw and not be so sociable, I get very quiet. I think the
weather affects me as well.

So, I've been working to keep my mind busy.
I've been doing some hand sewing and embroidery for the bears.
I have 25 bears altogether... 24 still to sew together, attaching legs
and arms. I have 12 more faces to embroider until I sew them all
together. Then I will be back to making the scarves. I have a lot of
yarn to choose from which will be fun!

This is a lovely place. I don't know where it was taken.
I found the picture on a public domain site! So pretty!
Have a happy week ahead and a Happy Labor Day!
:)

New Machine Knit Scarves for the Bears

I have 4 knitting machines collecting dust... lol.
So, I decided to put one to use today and knit the
Polar Bears some nice little scarves. It's been a long while
since I've used the machines and I had to go through
the books to re-introduce myself to machine knitting.
It's a bit complicated with all of the gadgets and the
100+ needles. You have to worry about the cast on, making
sure the carriage goes smoothly with no mistakes.
You have to weigh down the knitting as you go with different
metal weights with comb hooks, adjust the settings, binding
off, etc. It's a whole process but once you have it set up,
the knitting goes quickly. I love it!

Here is the same bear... I am still working on getting the ears
sewn on the rest and then the embroidered faces...then sew
them all together by hand.  These bears are a lot of work, but they are
fun to work with, each one comes out a bit differently. They
have personality! lol  :) Below are scarves I made
using some variegated yarn. I like how it stripes!! What do
you think? I'm also thinking about making some pompoms
out of the same yarn for the ear muffs... so they match! :) If not,
the bear fashion police may give them a citation! ;)
