New Year Wishes - A New Poem

Christmas has come and gone...and I am behind on my
posts here! I hope you all had a very wonderful and blessed
Christmas this year.... :)

Here we are, about to start a new year... for some it has
already started. I would like to wish everyone a safe,
happy and blessed New Year's Eve and New Year!

May you always have love, peace and joy in your heart...

New Year Wishes

As we say goodbye to another year
I want to thank my friends that I hold so dear
You've been my rock through some unsettling days
Your kindness and love leave me truly amazed
I think of you as family that I truly love
Your gift of friendship was sent from above
My wonderful friends I wish you the best
Having you as my friend, I am truly blessed.

May the New Year bring you much love and good health
Many blessings of joy, peace, and prosperous wealth.
May you find comfort and warmth from those that you love.
Plenty of food, happy times and blessed light from above.
Be safe in your travels and good times ahead.
Each night, sleep with blissful dreams in a comfortable bed.
Many positive thoughts and prayers are with you this year.
Let's open our hearts with love and bring on some cheer!

Vintage Christmas

Merry Christmas Eve to all!

I don't know about you, but I just love the vintage style
Christmas, holiday and other images from years ago.
I've always loved the Victorian style of anything!

I collected some old vintage style Christmas images and
made them into collages. I like how they turned out.
I wanted to share my greetings with you and I hope
you have the best Christmas ever... It's hard
to believe another year has flown by!

I would like to thank each and every one of you for
taking the time to check out my blog and see the latest
happenings that are going on here with me. I appreciate
your friendship and support in my work.

Take care and may God Bless you all with much love,
 light, health, peace and happiness!

Wishing you all the best in 2014 and always!

Merry Christmas!

This week's projects

I took a little break from sewing today and made a photo
collage. Something different for Friday the 13th...

A set of coasters made from felt and fabric,
double thick with the felt... to match the place
mats I made last week!

Working with the felt scraps, I thought I would
try my hand at making some little flowers!!

So, now to think what will be next... hmmm....
:)
Enjoy your weekend, everyone!!

Peace & Love

Christmas Quilts

Happy Sunday everyone!!
Yesterday I decided it was about time to set up the Christmas
tree before it arrives!! Time sure does fly and before you know
it another year has passed us by. I can't believe how quick they
come and go. Anyway... I have the tree up, no top yet, but I
haven't found the usual ornaments I use on the tree... so it's a
bit different this year, to say the least. I found some quilted wall
hangings I have made in the past and decided to share them
with you here.

The snowman below is a small piece in which
I appliqued and machine sewed together.

The snowmen quilt below is one in which I pieced
together the quilt blocks, so it contains
many small pieces of fabric stitched together
and machine quilted in a snowflake pattern.

The advent calendar below is one I made a few
years ago by cutting out some prints from
fabric and appliqueing these on the upper
part. Then cutting out the letters, numbers
and stockings. The stockings are actually
little stockings that I usually put mini
candy canes in each and for my son to
count down the days till Christmas...
I am behind this year...lol I don't have
any mini canes to put in them!!! I
finished this off with some Stipple Quilting
on the white background.

Below is another applique style quilt in
which I used a nice print and did some stipple
quilting as well.

I love to make something new each year to
add to the Christmas box of decorations...

I hope you enjoy these and maybe it will
get your creative juices flowing for this
holiday season. May it be merry and
bright...full of good cheer and wonderful
memories in the making.

Have a wonderful new week!!!
Blessings!

Christmas Table

Hello friends!
I hope you are having some warmer weather
than we are here in Alberta. We had a blizzard last Monday
and it's been so very cold with temperatures around -35C!
Brrrr...is all I can say to that!!! I hope you are staying
warm, cozy and safe out there!!!

This past week I dug out some nice Christmas fabric
and made a table runner, lined place mats and napkins
to get in the spirit of the season... I like how they turned
out...now to dig out a tablecloth or make a new one!!

Well, now to get that Christmas tree out and set up
before Christmas is over!! Happy day everyone!!

Christmas Wall Quilt

Happy December!!

I like to make or buy a new ornament or something each
year to add to the Christmas decorations. I have made many
wall quilts and love making these and many other things, as you
know. So last week I decided to go through my stash of
Christmas fabrics to use up. I had bought these Debbie
Mumm Santa panels many years ago. So, I thought I
would finally use them. I cut out the panels and sewed them
to strips from a Christmas Holly print that I received
from my late sister, Cheryl. I wanted this quilt to be
very special and made with love.

Now that the top was done,
time to pin it to the backing and batting.

 Time to begin machine quilting...
in the ditch around the panels and
the sashing...
and free motion quilting around the
Santa and designs...

After 2 days of quilting, I was ready to
hand sew the border, which was taken
from the backing fabric...

All finished! I will be adding some other
type of way to hang it...the metal clips
look kinda tacky!!! LOL

Happy first day of December!!! What are
you making this month??

Hand Painted Marble Fabric Quilt Top

Years ago I saw a show on television where they marbled
some fabric with acrylic paints... I thought it was a really cool
idea so I decided to try it out myself. I had a small tub of water
and put some thickening agent in the water, I think I used
plain gelatin. I didn't have the right supplies at the time but
I was too anxious to try the process out... so I improvised.
After the water is thickened you add the paint and swirl
it around on the top of the water...then you place a piece
of fabric over the paint to transfer the design to it.

The colors didn't come out as vibrant as I would have liked,
so I ended up with some pastels. I had no idea what to use
these pieces of fabric for until today. I bravely cut them into
squares and added some pink gingham fabric for the border.
I have the basic top done, now I will decide what fabric to
use for the backing and binding. I will be machine quilting
this and maybe add some embellishments. I may keep it as
a small table cloth instead of making it into a baby quilt...
I will be adding some batting, perhaps light weight for sure
if I decide to make it as a table topper.  Who knows,
I may just make it into a decorative wall quilt for a baby
girls nursery. Whatever it will be, it will be fun for me to do.

Have a great weekend!

Debra

Loneliness - A new poem

Loneliness

I wear a mask of smiles
Inside the tears rain down
My heart can't be unbroken
Seems I'll never lose this frown

People say to live in the moment
But that's a big mistake
One must think about the future
And the decisions that we make

They say to forgive and forget
Move forward and don't look back
Yet somehow no matter how hard we try
Hearts continuously broken
Eventually fade to black

Loneliness is my only world now
All I have are the memories from days gone by
I'm lost in a world of silence
No one seems to notice the tears I cry

Wanting to break free from this hell I endure
Maybe life will be better next time
All I can do is hope and pray
That one day my heart will be fine

Hair Bows

November's arrival started with a light snow, followed yesterday
by a huge DUMP!!  There is so much snow on the ground and
it's cold in my sewing room... Nevertheless, I have been keeping
quite busy with my latest projects. I decided to make my daughter
some hair bows, since she likes wearing them to tame her
beautiful , thick and curly brunette hair. She likes the Sweet
Lolita style and I had made her a couple skirts in this style.
She has been liking a few bows on Etsy, so I thought I would
make her some. I don't know if she still wears her pink skirt
or the black and white musical note one, but I thought I could
use up the scraps left from these past projects. I have so many
embellishments and fabrics that I have decided to make some
to sell in my Etsy shop as well. I hope you like them!

Have a beautiful new week ahead... and be careful
and stay warm in this cold weather if that is the case
where you live! Last photo is my yard...with the DUMP!
LOL!!

Welcome November!

Welcome November!

It's finally upon us, the colder days and nights of Fall. It's already
snowed here in Alberta. Seems the kids have to trick or treat in
the snow every year now! Well, I'm sure they weren't complaining
when they got home and devoured their goodies!

I wish everyone a happy November and hope that all
of your wishes and good dreams come true!
