Vintage Christmas

Merry Christmas Eve to all!

I don't know about you, but I just love the vintage style
Christmas, holiday and other images from years ago.
I've always loved the Victorian style of anything!

I collected some old vintage style Christmas images and
made them into collages. I like how they turned out.
I wanted to share my greetings with you and I hope
you have the best Christmas ever... It's hard
to believe another year has flown by!

I would like to thank each and every one of you for
taking the time to check out my blog and see the latest
happenings that are going on here with me. I appreciate
your friendship and support in my work.

Take care and may God Bless you all with much love,
 light, health, peace and happiness!

Wishing you all the best in 2014 and always!

Merry Christmas!

Debra

This week's projects

I took a little break from sewing today and made a photo
collage. Something different for Friday the 13th...

A set of coasters made from felt and fabric,
double thick with the felt... to match the place
mats I made last week!

Working with the felt scraps, I thought I would
try my hand at making some little flowers!!

So, now to think what will be next... hmmm....
:)
Enjoy your weekend, everyone!!

Peace & Love

Spring Cleaning

Hello friends,

It's been quite some time since I've posted here.
I have many projects I've been working on in my
home such as spring cleaning and getting rid of
the clutter. I have so much to do, it's just over-
whelming and I'm trying to do a little at a time.
I've taken a break from writing and arts until I
get my house in order. It will be wonderful when
I'm finished and everything is set up for creating
again. I'm excited and anxious to get things done.
In the meantime, I hope you are having a great
Spring so far. We were getting some snow flurries
here just last week. Today is gorgeous, I must
get my clothesline ready for the freshly washed
bedding, etc... nothing like line dried sheets, they
smell so good. :) Have a great weekend everyone.
Coffee sounds good right about now... :)

Spring is Here

Happy Spring! With all the snow still coming down,
it sure doesn't feel like Spring yet! Below are a couple
photos I've put together and added some effects to
blend them together and make them look more artsy
with a painted look. I have been enjoying working with
this type of art lately and have many more to do.
Hopefully soon, the snow and cold weather will
cease and we will have some snow drop
flowers blooming! Enjoy your day!

Flowers!

Happy Sunday, friends. I hope your day is a
beautiful one. Today we have sunshine in
Alberta, after last evening's snow fall. Spring
is definitely coming soon... and I can't wait!

I'm making a series of floral art, I've been using
many photos and mixing them together to make
the bouquets. Below are 2 samples, the
bottom photo has a bit more of an oil
painted look to it. Subtle change but
a nice effect, in my opinion.

Happy Sunday!

The weekend is sure flying by! We have a beautiful, sunny day here
today. I hope the snow melts and we have a longer Spring
this year. Sunshine is getting me in the mood to do more
sewing or something. I may end up working on my book a bit
today... I've been a bit down about my pc crashing... but
I'm thankful I still have my laptop so I can still access my
sites and all.

Below is a sample of one photo I did... I love Monet's art. He's
my favorite, and I wanted to do some photo art in a Monet-ish
sort of way. I love this, what do you think? I have some more
done and I am doing some different styles that I will have in my
new book of art and poetry. Much work to do on it yet!!

Have a lovely, creative and inspiring Sunday!
Love, Debra

Wednesday update

I haven't been posting on my blog for quite
some time, so I thought I would let you know
what's been happening. My main pc has crashed
and I am having a hard time trying to boot it.
Nothing has worked thus far, but I have a few
things to try again today to see if I can at least
get to my files to get them off the hard drive in
case I need to reformat. It's been a stressful
4 days, but I take breaks to do other things
so I don't get too stressed out... one day it
will work again... that's all I can hope for...
I haven't been online doing much on my sites
because of this latest incident... but it all goes
with the territory... I have never encountered
this difficulty of getting it running again...
soooooooooooo.... how is your day??? lol
It was -27 C yesterday... very cold day. I
like hibernating on these cold days. brrrrr!!!

I have done a little photo art for my book project
I am working on... I'm thankful I have a laptop to
continue my work on it until I get that pc going.

Well, it's almost 2 am... I think it's time to zzzzzz...

Have a happy Wednesday!!
Love, D

Fairy Friday

I haven't been making many things lately,
doing some writing, knitting, crocheting
and a lot of worrying, trying to get some
courage to call the doctor, dreading the
visit, tests, exams, pokes and whatever
else will ensue from this latest discovery.
After next week I will be calling to make
the appointment. Hopefully, the cancer
hasn't returned, but this new lump has me
very worried. I've been trying to keep my
mind off of it... I watched 4 movies last night
in a row. Then decided to do some knitting
on my daughter's leg warmers while I was
watching... so at least I have a few more inches
added on the second one. I'll be working
on that today, to try and finish, it's half done.

I really love these old time photos such as
in the above collage I just made to post.
Fairies, butterflies, castles and sleeping
beauty... I hope you have a fantastic and
magical Friday!! Enjoy the weekend and
be safe out there!

A Day of Reflection

This morning I woke up and lay here looking out
my bedroom window. The sunshine was
filling the room with a softness that I found was very
warm and comforting to me on this sad day.
It cheered me up a little just seeing this glow. The trees
were looking nice through the sheer curtains... so I took a
photo to remember the moment! :)

Today was a tough day to get through, as it is every year
on this day, for the past 6 years. I relive each moment in
my mind and the memories are so very sad and many
tears are shed. My dear sister, Cheryl, passed away at
the age of 51 to lung cancer. She was such a beautiful
woman, so smart and always lit up a room with her smile
and precious laughter. I sure do miss talking to her on the
phone and her silly way she greeted me each time. Oh, how
I miss being able to hear her voice, see that smile and her
glimmer of golden hair, she is among the angels now and I
am so happy to have had the time with her throughout my
life. She was my big sister, my "2nd Mommy" as
our mom called her because she would help take care
of me when I was a baby and through my younger years.
I was blessed to have her in my life and blessed to be her
little sister. I am the youngest. Cheryl and I were 4 years
apart and our sister, Corinne  is a year younger than
Cheryl. Three sisters, many fights, but many happy times
that I will forever treasure and hold close to my heart.
I spoke to my mom on the phone earlier and she said she
released 2 balloons for our dear angel. Mom was very
upset and like every year, I try to cheer her up by remembering
the good and happy times we had with Cheryl. She was so
very loved and cherished by her family and friends.

Today, to take my mind off the sadness I've been feeling
for quite a long time, I did some knitting. I have finally finished
one leg warmer for my daughter and have begun to
knit the second piece. Knitting with 4 needles is quite the
poky experience!! You would laugh at the way I knit...I
usually use 2 needles and stick the one with the stitches
between my knees or legs to hold tight while I knit away
with the yarn threaded through my fingers...it just goes
quicker and I like to see progress coming along fast!!!
I guess I am impatient when it comes to doing projects...
when I sew, I like to get it done and I don't care how many
hours it takes, I don't quit... well, unless it's a quilt,
then I have to take days and weeks to finish that.
As a matter of fact...I made a quilt top and still haven't
finished it and that was done about 7 years ago! Oh
my goodness... I have so many projects that aren't finished,
I guess the results weren't quick enough for me!! Oh well,
back to the four needles... so, here I was knitting
"in the round" and poking my fingers like crazy with the
needle tips... I couldn't grab those darn needles with
my knees, too short, or I would have!!! lol
I'm doing a K2 P2 rib so it will hug my daughters legs when
she dances! She does ballet and all sorts of dance.
And she has a sock addiction... she loves them! These leg
warmers are just a quickie project to mail off to her soon.
I will be making some more fashionable lacy and other
styles of leg warmers for her too... :) Maybe some
on the knitting machine... quicker results! HA! ;)

Now I just see the time!! 12:47 AM...I guess time flew by
and it's now the 31st... last day of the year... what a year
it's been. One of the hardest years in my life. I hope that
the New Year will be much better for everyone,  more loving,
kind, and peaceful, now that would be nice! I have
a lot to work on with myself and one day at a time will be
good for now. I can't expect quickie results on healing
my heart or changing some of my ways for the better.
That takes time...

So, now that it's New Year's Eve, I thought I would start on
my 2013 greeting, so this is what I came up with. It started
out as 3D text and fireworks and then I got all artsy fartsy on it,
adding snowflakes and some special effects to the fireworks.

Now for some snowflakes, since Alberta always
seems to have snow, even during the fireworks at
the lake. I'm sure they will have some tonight!!
Fireworks for sure, maybe snowflakes too... ;)

I'm having a great time with the new software, last night I was
trying a little animation!! Not ready for that yet!!! lol

Have a wonderful last day of 2012!!!
Stay safe and don't drink and drive!
Love & Peace to ALL!!

Photo Fun

I have been working with a new software program and I
really like all the different things I can do with it... more
creativity and I love it!!

Below are some photos from the public domain which I had
gathered, and combined them all to make one photo for a
comment. I love old photos and sun, landscapes, flowers
and all that pretty stuff... as you must know... :)
Well, who doesn't like that? lol
